What is a Christian retreat? The word, “retreat,” is rooted in a Latin word meaning “to draw back” or to “take a step backward.” Jesus Himself modeled retreating when he’d leave the crowds to be by himself to spend time in prayer and with His Father.
The very nature of a retreat requires participants to leave their regular routine and experience something different in order to focus on their relationship with God. They must “retreat” from the ordinary in order to experience the extraordinary.
